Brandon, FL – August 13, 2024 – Brain Injury Florida (BIF) is thrilled to announce the Bowling for Brain Injury event in the Tampa area, taking place on August 17th, 2024, at Brandon Crossroads Bowl, 609 Crater Ln, Tampa, FL 33619. This event aims to raise awareness and funds to support brain injury survivors and their families.
The highlight of the event will be the inspiring testimony of Rod Frazier, a 21-year brain injury survivor and avid bowler, who shares his journey and the importance of support and community in his recovery.
Rod Frazier‘s Story:
Q: How long have you been a TBI survivor/prosperer? A: I am a 21-year survivor of TBI.
Q: What has it meant for you having the right support (family, friends)? A: Having the right support was critical as I recovered. I had lots of friends and family who wanted me to get better. I believe my biggest push was by my fraternity brothers who would challenge me to do things I used to do. These were things I was not doing at the time, but things I wanted to be comfortable doing again. It was challenging and provided comfort because I knew my brothers would be able to provide the assistance I could rely on.
Q: What made you join Brain Injury Florida? A: I joined BIF because they were doing the exact same thing I was trying to do, but they were incorporated and had resources available to stay on task!
Q: What do you hope to achieve with Bowling for Brain Injury Tampa? A: I hope to provide exposure and raise money to allow us to provide resources for survivors. This event is meant to expose who we are and hopefully solicit those who may be looking for resources for themselves or a loved one.
Q: What would you tell someone who is thinking of getting involved or thinking of participating with Bowling for Brain Injury Tampa? A: Your participation means the world to me and fellow survivors. Because TBI is known as the invisible injury, many never see or understand what survivors go through. However, when we see you participating in fundraising events like this, we know that people see and are thinking about us.
Brain Injury Florida invites the community to join this meaningful event. Whether you are an avid bowler or just looking to support a great cause, there are many ways to get involved. You can donate to help registered bowlers reach their fundraising goals or sign up as a fundraiser by creating your own bowling page for the event.
